Hygia Medical Complex was established in 1991 by Dr. Stayko Spiridonov, M.D., as the first private health institution in Bulgaria. It is housed in a modern seven-storied building of 6,000 sq. m in the centre of the city of Pazardzhik. The complex includes a centre of diagnosis and consultation of 22 consulting rooms, a multi-profile hospital for active treatment with 130 beds, and a group practice of family general practitioners. At the beginning of 2009, Hygia Hospital was certified under ISO 9001:2000 for the quality management of all the activities of its medical and auxiliary structures and of its capacity to train medical undergraduate and post-graduate students. The introduced ISO quality management system guarantees the high level of patient care and the international recognition of the hospital’s management model.
